If you visit or shop within this website, you accept and agree to adhere to these conditions. Please read them carefully and contact us with any questions. We want to become the number one website that has baby chicks, ducklings, and guinea fowl for sale.

Our product and service warranties

MailOrderPoultry.com is not liable for more than the price of our products and shipping charges. We will replace or refund the customer for the amount of poultry that don’t arrive alive up until the total amount of poultry the customer ordered – conditions apply to our guarantee (read our safe arrival guarantee conditions here).

Sexed Chick Guarantee Conditions

We guarantee a 90% accuracy rate on sexed poultry. This means if you get 100 female Rhode Island Reds, we guarantee that 90 of them will be females. If you end up with 10 roosters, we do not guarantee those and won’t refund you for those. Any amount of roosters over 10% of the order total we will refund you for. This means that if you order 100 females and end up with 16 males, we’ll refund you for 6 of them. Make sense?

We must be notified of the error in sexing as soon as the roosters can be identified. We can’t be responsible for wrongly sexed chickens after they are six months of age. You must contact us with our error within six months after the hatch date of your chicks.

Buying chicks, especially heritage breeds which are more difficult to sex, you should expect a certain percentage might end up as roosters. For this reason we do not typically reimburse folks for feed costs but if our error is significant we try to be fair. However, we are not under any obligation to pay for any feed costs pertaining to wrongly sexed chicks. It is solely up to our discretion.

Before you put the roosters on the kitchen table, take a snapshot of the live roosters you have ended up with so we can confirm that you have indeed ended up with roosters. The pictures need to be clear. We need a picture of each rooster and a picture of the group of roosters. Not everyone is as good at telling genders apart as they would like to think. Plus, it helps us avoid fraud. Hey, we trust you but you must realize that their are unethical people out there. It’s nothing personal so don’t get offended when we ask. It’s our policy.

Email pictures to sales@mailorderpoultry.com along with your order # and the name on the order. You can also text pictures along with order info to 574-400-5464. We love our customers and try to keep them so we will do our best to work out solutions that satisfy both our needs.

Cancellation Policy

You need to keep a close eye on baby chicks the first couple weeks and if something else comes up that will get in the way of you caring for your chicks, we totally understand if you need to postpone the order or cancel it altogether. This is OK but we do have a policy regarding cancellations. We charge your card when you place your order so the order is paid for when you are done checking out.

We need to know within 2 business days of the ship date of your order if you need to cancel your order. This is because the order packing slips are printed out and lined up at the hatchery the Friday before the ship week. If you cancel an order the same day the order is to be shipped we may not be able to stop the order from being shipped. Because of this we need two business days to cancel your order (business days will be considered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Our office is open some Saturdays but Saturdays will not count as a business day). If you notify us with less than two business days until your order is shipped, we cannot guarantee that your order will be canceled. We will try our best to accommodate your situation but if your order doesn’t get canceled and leaves the hatchery, we cannot provide a refund although our safe arrival guarantee still applies. It will be your responsibility to have the order picked up at the post office.

If you do cancel your order and have more than two business days until your order is shipped, we can cancel your order and give you a full refund.

Do not cancel your order by disputing your credit card charges as this costs us extra fees and impacts our willingness to work with you in the future. Don’t be afraid to call or email us and cancel the order. We won’t be mad at you!

Our Safe Arrival Guarantee

We guarantee that all the baby chicks you ordered will arrive alive! We package the chicks according to the weather so we are confident of their safe arrival. Mistakes happen and so we will refund or replace any that are lost during shipping.

MailOrderPoultry.com Safe Arrival Guarantee Qualifications:

  1. We guarantee the amount of chicks, ducks, or guinea fowl you ordered arrive alive. We usually add extra poultry to your order. Our guarantee does not include the extra poultry put into your order, only the amount of poultry you specified on the order. Example: You ordered 15 chicks and 3 do not survive the journey. But, we have included 3 extra in the order as a precaution. We will NOT refund you for the 3 extras that were lost. We go by the total amount of poultry that are left alive and we compare that to the total amount of poultry you ordered. Which means:
  2. We do not guarantee the quantities of specific breeds you ordered, only the total quantity of chicks in the order. Example: You ordered 5 chicks of 3 different breeds for a total of 15 chicks. We send 3 extra chicks of one breed so you are sent (8) of Breed 1, (5) of Breed 2, and (5) of Breed 3. Unfortunately, 3 chicks of Breed 2 die on the way to your post office. So you are left with (8) of Breed 1, (2) of Breed 2, and (5) of Breed 3. We would not refund or replace the lost chicks since the total amount of chicks you ordered (15) arrived alive and in good shape. This is why we recommend limiting your order to 3 different breeds so you are more likely to end up with some of each.
  3. We guarantee the chicks for 24 hours after they arrive at your home (if dispute arises over when that was, the USPS tracking number for the order will be used as a basis to determine when the chicks entered into your care.) Typically any losses after 24 hours of time is due to improper temperatures or conditions. (See here for tips on raising poultry) You need to contact us within 48 hours after you’ve received your order of chicks with any losses or issues you had.

We may want to see a photo of the box & chicks upon arrival in order for a refund claim. Refusal may prevent us from proceeding with any refunds.

Product descriptions

MailOrderPoultry.com and its associates attempt to be as accurate as possible. However, MailOrderPoultry.com does not warrant that product descriptions or other content of this site is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free. If a product offered by MailOrderPoultry.com is not as described, your sole remedy is to get a monetary refund not exceeding the purchase price of the product.

Liability disclaimer

MailOrderPoultry.com ships day old baby chicks, ducklings, & guinea fowl by mail order to small hobby farmers and to whoever needs high quality poultry. MailOrderPoultry.com is not liable for any sickness or disease that may be transported by poultry we sell by mail order. The hatcheries we ship from are NPIP certified and maintain strict practices to keep their poultry healthy and happy. They have time tested, proven track records of excellence in their breeds. MailOrderPoultry.com doesn’t raise any form of poultry for retail, we only drop ship for superior hatcheries around the nation. We cannot be held liable for their mistakes but we will provide top notch customer service for our customers and will work tirelessly to resolve any issues that pop up. We maintain excellent relationships with the family run hatcheries we work with.

Electronic communications

When you visit MailOrderPoultry.com or send e-mails to us (josh@mailorderpoultry.com), you are communicating with us electronically. You consent to receive communications from us electronically. We will communicate with you by e-mail or by posting notices on this site. You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures, invoices, and other communications that we provide to you electronically, satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.

Your membership account

If you use this site, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer, and you agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password. If you are under 18, you may use our website only with involvement of a parent or guardian. MailOrderPoultry.com and its associates reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, remove or edit content, or cancel orders at their sole discretion.

Data and security information

We work tirelessly to defend your private information (such as your email, address, and name). We have a valid SSL certificate which encrypts the information sent and received on our site and we hand our checkout process over to PayPal & Stripe which handles the sensitive credit card information for us on their own secure servers so you can be assured that your credit card information is safe and secure via their encryption. We do not store customers credit card numbers on our own devices, servers, or in any non-encrypted form. We never have access to customers credit card numbers unless we take orders over the phone. In that case the credit card number is processed via the Stripe or PayPal and as soon as the transaction is concluded, the credit card number is encrypted and isn’t accessible by us. Customers with an account may choose to save their credit cards on Stripe’s secure servers so they can conveniently use it again when they order a second time. We do not have access to these card numbers. As soon as the order is processed, the number becomes encrypted and is no longer available to any personnel of MailOrderPoultry.com We cannot be held responsible for any breaches in Stripe or PayPal security processes as this is PayPal & Stripe’s responsibility.
We will not give your email address, physical address, or phone number to anybody other than the hatcheries we ship from. Your email address will never be sold to third parties. We will use your email address to contact you about your order. We will not spam you. Your phone number will only be used for us to contact you about your order. Your physical address may be used to send you special offers or helpful materials but will never be sold or shared with any third parties other than the company(ies) which handle(s) our credit card processing and the hatchery(ies) we ship from.

All visitors to this site are subject to anonymous data collection in order to keep track of bounce rate, exit pages, and daily visitor counts among other things which are collected anonymously.

License and site access:

MailOrderPoultry.com grants you a limited license to access and make personal use of this site and not to download (other than page caching) or modify it, or any portion of it, except with express written consent of MailOrderPoultry.com. This license does not include any resale or commercial use of this site or its contents: any collection and use of any product listings, descriptions, or prices; any derivative use of this site or its contents; any downloading or copying of account information for the benefit of another merchant; or any use of data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools. Applicable laws related to our industry enforced by states in which hatcheries are located

We do not charge sales tax because we sell agricultural products which are exempt from state sales tax. The hatcheries we work with are all certified and operate under the requirements as laid out by federal and state law in order to ship poultry. They are all NPIP certified.
